Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “When the son of Adam recites a verse of Sajdah (prostration) and he prostrates, Shaytaan moves away and says whilst weeping: ‘Woe to me! The son of Adam was commanded to prostrate, and he prostrated, he will go to Paradise. I was commanded to prostrate, and I refused, I will go to the Hellfire.’” [Sahih Muslim]
Question:
I wanted to enquire about whether one needs to be in a state of Wudhu when doing the Sajdah Tilaawat.
(Question published as received)
Answer:
In principle, the conditions for the validity of Salaah apply to the validity of a Sajdah Tilaawat.
Hence, Wudhu is also required for Sajdah Tilaawat. [Tahtawi Page 498]
